About Our Dentists

John E. Ver Ploeg, DMD  -  Dr. Jack

Dr. Jack was born in NH. During his educational career he resided in Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Italy, and Bolivia before attending the University of New England College of Dental Medicine in Portland, ME. After completing his Doctorate of Dental Medicine he worked as a general dentist in Baltimore, MD and later Dover, NH before coming to Epping General Dentistry.

Dentistry is an ever-evolving profession, and Dr. Jack firmly believes in the value of continuing education. By maintaining a cutting edge knowledge of dental advancements he aims to provide patients with the most comfortable experience, most predictable outcome, and longest lasting results possible.

Outside of dentistry Dr. Jack can be found enjoying the outdoors. Hiking, motorcycling, sailing, mountaineering, rock and ice climbing, cross country skiing and many other outdoor pursuits occupy his free time. He enjoys traveling and is always on the lookout for the next destination.

"I love dentistry because of its immense potential to positively affect a person's life," says Dr. Jack. "I believe that every visit should focus on improving the quality of life for the patient, both during the visit by making sure the patient is as comfortable as possible and for the future through lasting, quality care."

About Our Founder

John R. Ver Ploeg, DDS  -  Dr. John

Dr. John Ver Ploeg grew up in the Iowa countryside. A wrestler and trombone player in high school, he then left home to attend the University of Pennsylvania and later Montana State University. In 1979, he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Minnesota, where he met Julia, a dental hygiene student and his future wife.

Upon graduation, John and Julia moved out to New Hampshire to start their life together. Forty-plus years later they are still here, the proud parents of 4 adventurous children and grandparents to six.

As often as the weather permits, he can be found skiing, skating, swimming, or boating on Lake Pawtuckaway.

"Southeastern New Hampshire is a wonderful place to live," says Dr. John. "I enjoyed my many years serving the community on Main Street."
